What kind of photo is required?
The better the photo the better the caricature! Bad photos can delay your caricature. Here are some guidelines to help you:
- Preferably a recent photograph of the person
- A photo of the person's typical smile or common expression, that way I can truly capture their personality i.e. If you want the person drawn smiling, then i will need a photo of the person smiling.
For 3D sculptures, I will require as many photos from different angles as possible. Because it is 3dimensional, to truly capture the resemblance of a person, I would need to know how he/she would look from both the side and the front.
If you are sending me a scanned photo, I recommend scanning it at 200 dpi and saving it as a hi-resolution .jpg file.
But if you are stuck and only have the one photo of the person, email me a copy and I will tell you if I can work from it
Do I get my photos back?
Of course! I will return any photos you send me when I post your caricature. Unfortunately I have no control over the Irish postal service, so it's always safer to provide me with a copy of a photo or better yet a digital copy. However all my caricatures are sent registered post, so it is a premium secure delivery service.
Do they come framed?
No, but it can be arranged. I don’t like to provide frames with each caricature because I think framing is a matter of personal choice, so I usually leave that to the recipient. However if it is for a gift and you would like it ready to give, I can arrange your caricature mounted and framed.
How many caricatures can you draw at a live event in 1 hour?
It varies, normally for a decent caricature it takes up to 5minutes. Some caricaturists can brag they can do them in less than 2 minutes, but I think that service can be rather like a caricature conveyor belt, with little or no communication with your guests. The live interaction I have with my clients puts them at ease and allows them to enjoy having their caricature done. I think having a bit of craic and fun is all part and parcel of the whole experience
How are the caricatures delivered?
All my caricatures are sent via ‘An Post’ registered post. This is a premium secure delivery service. There is a track and trace system that will allow you see where abouts your caricature is on it’s journey to you. It guarantees next working day delivery and requires a signature as proof of delivery.
How much is postage?
For drawn caricatures, postage is €10.
For 3D Sculptures, postage is €20.
This includes the box and packaging to insure that your caricature arrives to you safe and well. These prices are for the Republic Of Ireland; please email me for quotes to other countries.
What if something is broken when it arrives?
Although polymer clay is pretty strong once it is baked, it is not indestructible and in rare cases thin pieces may break or chip. Every effort is made to insure your caricature arrives to you in one piece, however delicate areas can be vulnerable due to rough handling, but this can easily be mended with the help of a little super glue. If it is worse however, please contact me as soon as possible. Do not sign for a box that looks damaged.
When do I pay for my caricature?
Full payment is made on placement of your order.
How do I pay?
You can pay via credit card, cheque or with paypal. Please make cheques payable to Anita Foy. (See contact/booking page)
What are the caricatures made with?
The highest quality polymer clay for the 3D sculptures.
Ink, graphic pen, acrylic paint and pencil for the drawn caricatures.
High-grade acrylic paint is used for the murals.
How big are the sculptures and how much do they weigh?
On average the sculptures weigh about 300grams each and are about 6 ½ inches. However this varies from person to person.
